Creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Dojo

Dojo’s 150,000+ customers reflect the diversity of the UK High Street. Building teams with diverse backgrounds that are representative of the customer base which we serve is fundamental to creating innovative products at Dojo. Whoever you are, if you’re passionate about your work, curious, relentless and customer-obsessed, you have a place at Dojo.

We want everyone to be the best they can be throughout the recruitment process; if you require any additional adjustments please let us know.

The Role

Within Dojo, the Consumer Products Tribe sits at the intersection of Dojo’s B2B2C ambitions with a mission “To create a world where you can access the experience economy anywhere, anytime”.

We are looking for an experienced Data Manager who will lead the data strategy of the Consumer Tribe and a cross-functional team of 5 talented data professionals, working embedded in the Tribe.

You will be part of an established, multidisciplinary leadership team working closely with your product, design, engineering, sales and product marketing counterparts. You will also be part of the Data Chapter Leadership team, a role model for data across Dojo and collaborating closely with the Director of Data.

Our data comes from a wide variety of sources which reflects the multitude of problems the tribe is tackling, for our restaurant customers, our consumers, and our internal stakeholders. The problem space is complex and the potential impact for Dojo and the wider ecosystem is huge!

What you’ll do…

  • Proactively lead the identification of areas of risk or opportunity, utilising tools for scalable and actionable access to data and insights, delivering it to stakeholders at all levels of seniority

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to refine or define KPIs on what success looks like.

  • Partner with PMs to develop rigorous insights to inform prioritisation and recommendations, planning of the product roadmap, as well as tracking measures of success - to improve customer and consumer outcomes

  • You’ll help to shape the direction of the wider data organisation leading the adoption of the best-in-class tooling already available across the tribe

  • As you acquire an in-depth understanding of the Consumer Products Tribe, you’ll act as a champion for the tribe to evangelise data standards and processes within and across others.

What you’ll bring:

  • We are seeking a talented data leader who can cut through complexity to provide pragmatism and clarity. You will have strong people and product leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team and the broader data community leading by example.

  • You will have a proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders, including at the exec level. You will help shape the strategic direction of the Tribe and support that with a data strategy and its execution.

  • You care about customer impact and consistently ensure work is aligned to strategic priorities, maximising impact in the short and medium/long term. You are the Customer-focused person in the engineering discussion and the person pointing out the technical considerations in business forums.

  • You will have a passion for mentoring and coaching and will provide technical leadership to your team and the Tribe across multiple disciplines (eg. analytics, ML, engineering).

  • An applied understanding of descriptive and predictive analytical concepts. You’re able to implement core data-driven frameworks like customer segmentation and user personas.

  • You are familiar with experimentation methodologies, and OKR framework, and understand how to build metrics to measure your team and Tribe’s impact.

  • You think about data as a product and can work collaboratively with other data leads across the company to efficiently capture and transform data and create new revenue and better customer experience opportunities across the company.

About Dojo

We launched Dojo in 2019 to address business owners’ pain points across the UK. Since then, we’ve seen incredible growth as a scaling fintech, welcoming over 150,000 customers and growing the Dojo team to 1,000+ people across five locations. In that time, we’ve also introduced Dojo Virtual Queues & Bookings and the Dojo restaurant finder app, formerly known as WalkUp and loved by 1,000 restaurants and 750,000 diners.

Today, we work towards our mission to empower businesses to thrive in the Experience Economy by creating the tools and technology that turn transactions into meaningful relationships. For our business customers, that means fast funding, the fastest payments, smart integrations, and efficient virtual queues & bookings - all with instant insight across the board. For diners, that means getting seated at their favourite restaurants with just a couple of taps on the Dojo app. Whether it’s for busy business owners or hungry diners, every Dojo product is built to address real customer pain points by our dedicated teams in London, Bristol, Hull and Belfast.

Our values

At Dojo, we’re curious. We have an insatiable desire to learn and innovate. And we’re relentless. We persevere even when it’s easier not to. But, we’re nothing without our customers, who drive everything we do. From day one, Dojo was built on real customer pain points and every one of us is customer-obsessed.

Our way of working

Dojo has adopted a set of shared principles with the aim of increasing in-person collaboration and amplifying our ‘Customer First’ values. We encourage our employees to meet in-person over virtual meetings, and our communication is mostly asynchronous. Unlike most other businesses, we are intentionally avoiding a rules-based approach, and each team is empowered to make the arrangements that work best for their success. The answer to every scenario which tests these principles is: We trust you to use your judgement responsibly, in the best interest of our customers.
