Our drive to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion is closely linked to helping employees thrive and innovating for better customer experiences.

If you care about your work, you’re curious, and you think customer-first, you have a place at Dojo.

To make sure you’re the best you can be throughout the recruitment process, let us know if you need any extra adjustments to help you thrive.

The Role

As an Android Engineer at Dojo working on our merchant’s experience management app, you will play a major part in defining and delivering our mobile product strategy. We aspire to offer our users (circa 40k daily) a curated experience, with which they can streamline a wide variety of their day-to-day business operations, allowing them to ‘get to the good stuff’.

We are looking for a product engineer who takes pride & ownership in what they build, voicing well-reasoned opinions grounded in data, sharing expertise with their peers and non-technical stakeholders, listens to feedback, and commits to decisions.

With record monthly sign-ups and international expansion underway, it’s an exciting time to join Dojo!

What you will do…

  • Solve customer pains in a data-driven manner, crafting features in collaboration with other engineers and product managers in multi-disciplinary squads.

  • Have a leading role in developing our new app product for our merchants.

  • Own your code and features end to end.

  • Participate in an environment where problems can be shared, understood and resolved, always keeping the customer at the heart of decision-making.

  • Collaborate with both your multi-disciplinary squad and the wider Android Engineering chapter.

What you will bring…

  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin and the Android Framework (Compose).

  • Product-focused mindset, making data-informed decisions.

  • Knowledge of reactive programming (Coroutines, RXjava).

  • Experience with Dependency injection & Jetpack Libraries advantageous.

  • Knowledge of architecture patterns (MVVM, Observable patterns, Clean Architecture).

  • Unit/UI testing best practice understanding (Mockito, Mockk, Robolectric, JUnit etc).

Dojo from the get-go

First launch was back in 2009. So with over 15 years in the payments industry, we’ve got a story to tell.

Dojo is built to soothe customer and consumer pain points across the world for over 140,000 customers.

And today, there’s over 1,200 of us in multiple locations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and France.

Our mission is to empower businesses to thrive in the experience economy by creating the tools and tech that turns transactions into meaningful relationships.

We do that through sophisticated EPOS payments integrations, fast transactions, hospitality bookings, and a strong consumer restaurant app.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.

Dojo home and away

We love collaboration. We have offices across Europe – that takes some dynamism.

Long-distance calls are a must, but we’ve always valued in-person work when it’s possible, especially meetings. We aim for asynchronous communication when we can though.

Don’t like rules? Nor do we. We avoid top-down policies – it’s all about teams having the power to fuel their success.

At Dojo, you’re trusted to judge what you see and make the call in the best interest of our customers.
