The Role

We’re looking for an Enterprise Credit Underwriter with a background in payments or financial analysis to join our London team. As part of the Credit Risk team, you will underwrite enterprise customer applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial analysis skills and a solid understanding of various business models to conduct effective credit risk reviews. You’ll collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to make informed underwriting decisions that support our credit risk management initiatives.

What you will do…

  • Conduct comprehensive credit risk reviews on prospective merchants, focusing on business model analysis and employing complex evaluation techniques for optimal underwriting outcomes.

  • Perform detailed financial analysis of P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for complex business models, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting principles.

  • Confidently assess applications within their own delegated approval limit, empowered to make informed judgments and approvals for their own and teammates’ credit submissions.

  • Contribute to Dojo’s continuous improvement by making detailed recommendations to enhance existing underwriting processes and systems.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to represent Underwriting in customer meetings and calls, effectively communicating credit conclusions and ensuring alignment with client needs and Dojo’s risk appetite.

  • Assist wider Underwriting team members through credit risk training initiatives

What You Will Bring…

  • A background in credit risk or financial analysis, preferably in the payments or financial services sectors as familiarity with payment schemes is highly desirable.

  • The financial acumen to proficiently evaluate financial statements and adept at balancing risk with business objectives in complex deal structures.

  • Industry Insight, bringing a solid understanding of payment nuances and industry trends, particularly in high-value sectors like healthcare, hospitality, leisure and events.

  • Track record in underwriting large, complex enterprise deals with strong expertise in merchant underwriting, credit insurance or commercial lending.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. You’ll be collaborative and have experience presenting analyses to senior management, as well as the ability to articulate recommendations clearly across functions.

  • Strong organisational skills with the proactive initiative to manage multiple tasks and priorities under pressure, showcasing systematic planning and coordination to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.

  • Attention to detail; an exceptional focus on accuracy and adherence to credit policies in a fast-paced environment and a thorough approach in all aspects of underwriting.

  • Relevant degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is desirable, but not required.

Dojo from the get-go

First launch was back in 2009. So with over 15 years in the payments industry, we’ve got a story to tell.

Dojo is built to soothe customer and consumer pain points across the world for over 140,000 customers.

And today, there’s over 1,200 of us in multiple locations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Italy.

Our mission is to empower businesses to thrive in the experience economy by creating the tools and tech that turns transactions into meaningful relationships.

We do that through sophisticated EPOS payments integrations, fast transactions, hospitality bookings, and a strong consumer restaurant app.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.

Dojo home and away

We love collaboration. We have offices across Europe – that takes some dynamism.

Long-distance calls are a must, but we’ve always valued in-person work when it’s possible, especially meetings. We aim for asynchronous communication when we can though.

Don’t like rules? Nor do we. We avoid top-down policies – it’s all about teams having the power to fuel their success.

At Dojo, you’re trusted to judge what you see and make the call in the best interest of our customers.
