We’re reinventing payments.
In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.
Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we’re just getting started.
Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.

The Role

You are an experienced product designer that thinks in systems, strives for accessibility, and brings strong personal skills to foster collaboration across teams.

You have proven experience working in a central role within a product business with a mature design system to service adoption and reuse of scalable components and semantic tokens across design libraries and code base. You’re a good egg that brings strong UX/UI skills, but specialises in system thinking and accessibility.

Design at Dojo

At Dojo we’re mindful that the route into Product Design can be varied and diverse - we like and encourage that, both in terms of experience and our people. What follows is a high-level view of the role expectations and reflects those things we value most. That said, we don’t think in terms of years of experience, nor expertise in all that follows, but we are after someone who is driven, humble and will contribute passionately into our design community at Dojo.

This role sits within the central design team and is focused on driving component creation as we grow our design system to support new product launches.

What you’ll bring:

  • Design Systems Experience: Minimum 4 years in component design, designs systems beyond Figma
  • Design System Component Creation: You can work with Product designers to understand the design, intent and function of UX/UI and translate these atomically into the rapid creation of robust, scalable, accessible components
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Great components are designed with an understanding of how they will be built, and awareness design systems are shared (design/engineering)
  • Deep Accessibility Expertise: Is not just a champion of accessibility, but has a working understanding of impending EAA laws and the potential impact across product design
  • Design System Workflow: Knowledge of processes to govern the creation and consumption of design system components and tokens, at home with speaking the language of engineers and designers alike
  • Native/Responsive Design: Showcased proficiency in crafting adaptable designs for various platforms to ensure consistent user experiences across iOS, Android and Web
  • Awareness of code frameworks: At least a basic understanding of patterns and constraints of React and native mobile frameworks. Demonstrable understanding of semantic HTML and CSS practices
  • Experience using Design Tokens: You have worked with a tokenised design system and are comfortable using bespoke structures (our design system uses semantic design tokens and a closed loop via Supernova)

What you’ll do:

  • You will work with a Staff Product Designer with significant experience, who leads the design system team and drives accessibility across the business
  • Create components from page mock-ups and from scratch for three code platforms: Android, iOS and Web
  • Conduct design reviews of coded components and review demo app examples to ensure they demonstrate the component variants
  • You will work with engineers and designers within different teams and squads to gather context for new components and drive the adoption of existing design system components
  • Action and gather feedback from designers and engineers
  • Foster a culture of feedback, actively engaging with fellow designers and the wider product team to drive continuous improvement in product quality.

Nice to have:

  • Fintech/Payments Experience: Minimum 5 years in Product Design, ideally within the Fintech or payments industries.

Dojo home and away

We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.

That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.

With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

  • You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
  • You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
  • You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
