The Role:

2025 is a transformative year for Dojo as we continue our rapid growth across Europe—and we’re excited to bring fresh talent into our expanding Italian team. We're looking for a driven and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to support our merchant onboarding and risk management efforts in Italy.

Based in Milan, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in underwriting within a high-growth fintech environment. You’ll work closely with experienced underwriters and our wider Risk, Compliance, and Commercial teams to ensure safe and efficient onboarding of merchants—learning how to assess risk, understand compliance requirements, and contribute to our mission of delivering secure, seamless payments.

What You Will Do:

  • Support Application Reviews: Assist in reviewing merchant applications and requests for services, helping balance business growth with risk awareness, while meeting service standards.
  • Learn Risk Assessment Techniques: Contribute to evaluating new merchants by supporting the review of documentation (financial and KYC/KYB) and flagging potential financial crime or credit risks.
  • Assist in Credit Evaluations: With guidance, help review basic financial documents to identify potential concerns and understand industry-level risk factors.
  • Compliance Support: Help ensure our onboarding practices meet Italian and EU regulatory standards by supporting KYC/KYB processes and documentation checks.
  • Understand Acquiring Risks: Build knowledge around payment processing risks across different industries and how Dojo mitigates them.
  • Commercial Collaboration: Work closely with the commercial team to support risk-related queries and escalations. Help deliver training and guidance to improve onboarding quality, speed, and merchant experience.
  • Cross-Team Communication: Liaise with other teams such as Compliance and Financial Crime to ensure a smooth onboarding process for higher-risk applications.
  • Grow with Us: Be part of continuous improvements in our underwriting processes and gain exposure to policy development and market trends.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • Interest in Risk or Finance: A strong interest in credit, fraud, compliance, or financial analysis. Any exposure to payments, fintech, or banking is a plus but not required.
  • Attention to Detail: A careful and thorough approach to reviewing documents and spotting inconsistencies or potential risks.
  • Strong Communication: Comfortable interacting with team members and learning how to clearly explain risk considerations to both internal teams and external stakeholders, in Italian and English.
  • Commercial Awareness: Understands the balance between business growth and risk, with a willingness to support commercial goals through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Team-First Mindset: Works well across functions and contributes positively to team objectives and merchant satisfaction.
  • Willingness to Learn: Motivated to build a career in fintech or risk management, with a proactive approach to personal and professional development.
  • Languages: Business fluency in Italian and English is essential.
